Last week our speaker, Michelle Munnings Minus spoke to the club about ALS and Women's boxing in The Bahamas. She spoke of the all female world title fight which will be taking place in the Bahamas and also brought awareness to ALS and professional boxer Ray Minus Jr's personal fight against ALS. ALS is a neurological/brain disease that cripples the body and over time affects a person's motor functions. The life expectancy of someone with ALS is 2 to 5 years based on research. Ray Minus was diagnosed with ALS in 2020. ALS is not hereditary and affects approximately one in every ten thousand persons. Ray Minus Jr. is the first person in his family to ever have ALS.
On March 31st at 8:00 pm there all female world title fight at the Sir Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium. The event seeks to introduce female boxing to the Bahamas. Ray Minus Jr., one of the founders of First Class Promotions who is staging the event, will be honored at the event and awareness to ALS will be brought during the event.
